We Provide Best Health Care for Your Family

For over 30 years, the Quorn Medical Practice (formerly Kanyaka Surgery), has been providing continuous quality medical care to the community and district of Kanyaka-Quorn.

Located on Hospital Road in Quorn, the Practice provides comprehensive, high-quality medical services, by our experienced and friendly staff.

Patients are seen by appointment Monday to Friday unless otherwise indicated, and tele-health consults are available to patients who are not able come to the practice and requires brief consultations.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr Ganizani Mlawanda to our team! 

Dr Mlawanda is a compassionate, supportive, and patient-focused GP who builds affinity and trust with people from all backgrounds, ages, and life circumstances. 

With an exceptionally high level of training, expertise, and decades of experience, Dr Mlawanda strives to provide the highest quality of health care to improve patient wellbeing through complete investigation, evaluation, and treatment. 

Set to arrive on the 15th of April for orientation to the Practice and to settle into the community, Dr Mlawanda will commence consultations from the 22nd of April in a full-time, permanent capacity. 

We are delighted to have Dr Mlawanda join the Practice and excited to see the positive impact of health care for the people of Quorn and surrounding District.

About the role

We are looking to expand our practice nurse services and are seeking to recruit a casual nurse to complement our existing service.  The successful applicant will provide support to GPs as part of the clinical team by delivering a range of services to patients, including chronic disease management, diabetes and asthma education, and wound management.

  • RN Level 3 Nurses Award (MA000034)
  • Casual as required

About You

  • Registered Nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Current Practicing Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Recent National Police Check

CLIENT INFORMATION

Easy access to the surgery is available for people with a disability via the undercover car park side entrance.

The staff at Quorn Medical Practice can organize interpreters for non-English Language and or AUSLAN sign language.

All patients are now required to see their doctor for repeat prescriptions, even if a script is lost.

On call GP will be available for after hour emergencies through hospital. Please contact hospital on 86 487 888 for assessment.

Accounts must be settled at the time of consultation. Please contact us directly for information on gap fees payable.

Some patients are eligible for a discounted rate and are bulk-billed for each visit. These patients include:

  • Aged Pensioners
  • Health Care Card Holders
  • When clinically indicated, patients are referred to a range of specialist services in Port Augusta and Whyalla.
  • Patients can be referred to Adelaide for more specific specialist services or at the request of individual patients.
  • A referral letter must be picked up from the surgery and taken to the specialist appointment.
  • PATS (Patient Assistance Transport Service) forms are available to help with the cost of specialist appointments in Adelaide and Whyalla.

Waiting times are occasionally unavoidable due to emergency cases. In order to avoid unnecessary delays, patients are requested to:
• Ask for a long consult for a medical examination/report or complicated problems.
• Ask for multiple appointments if more than 1 person requires seeing the doctor.
• Minimise telephone interruptions by indicating to the receptionist the brief reason for wanting to speak to the doctor. The doctor will only take emergency calls. Others will be returned at a later time.
